Bihar bandh call today

Violent demonstrations took place in many states of the country on Friday against the Agneepath scheme for army recruitment. Against the plan, student organizations of Bihar have called for a nationwide bandh on Saturday. The RJD has also announced its support for the bandh. RJD's Bihar unit president Jagdanand Singh said that the short-term recruitment scheme is not in the interest of the youth of the country. At the same time, Left parties have also supported the bandh.

According to media reports, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will hold a review meeting on Saturday regarding the scheme. Navy Chief, Air Force Chief, and Defense Ministry officials will be present at this meeting. Since the Army Chief is going to Dundigal in Hyderabad to participate in the passing out parade of the Air Force on Saturday, he will not take part in the meeting. General Manoj Pandey on Friday appealed to the youth to join the army and become Agniveer.

12 trains were burnt in 2 days, Railway Minister appealed not to harm

According to a statement issued by the railways, 12 trains have been set ablaze since the protests began on Wednesday. More than 300 trains have been affected during this period. 214 trains have been canceled, 11 were diverted and 90 could not reach their halt. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has appealed not to damage railway property.

Navy Chief said – such protest was not expected

Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar on Friday stated the Agneepath scheme amid protests across the country. He said- I did not expect any such protest. We worked on the Agneepath scheme for about a year and a half. This is the biggest human resource management transformation in the Indian Army. The protests are taking place due to misinformation and misunderstanding of the scheme.

This scheme is beneficial for the country and the youth as it will create more opportunities for them. Where earlier one person used to get an opportunity to serve in the Armed Forces, now it will probably be available to 4 people.

Speaking on the issue of short service life, he said that it has many advantages. Agniveers have to decide whether they want to take up Armed Forces as a career or take up some other job.

Army Chief said - the Agneepath scheme beneficial for youth

Army Chief General Manoj Pandey has also appealed to the youth to join the army and become Agniveer. General Pandey on Friday lauded the Centre's decision to increase the upper age limit to 23 years under the Agneepath scheme. He said that this decision will allow those youths who are preparing to join the army but could not join in the last two years due to the halted recruitment due to Kovid.

General Pandey said- I think the youth have not been able to get the correct information about the Agneepath scheme. Once they come to know about this scheme, they will be convinced that it is not only beneficial for the youth but all.
