On April 8, the Supreme Court had advised through a comment that the President should take a decision on the pending bills sent by the governors within three months. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had reacted to this comment of the Supreme Court and expressed concern over it and said that India had not imagined such a democracy.
DMK objected to the statement of the Vice President
Tamil Nadu's ruling party DMK has criticized the Vice President for his statement. DMK said that it is 'unethical' for the Vice President to criticize the decision of the Supreme Court.
DMK Deputy General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Tiruchi Siva said, "According to the Constitution, the executive, legislature, and judiciary have different powers under the separation of powers."
DMK leader posted on X
He said in a post on X, "While all three work in their respective fields, one should not forget that the Constitution is supreme. The recent Supreme Court verdict under Article 142 on the role of governors and the President has undoubtedly established that no person in the name of being a constitutional authority can indefinitely hold back bills passed by the legislature that weaken constitutional provisions."
The DMK leader said, "Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's comments on this Supreme Court verdict are unethical! Every citizen should know that the rule of law prevails in India."
What statement did the Vice President give?
Let us tell you, Vice President Dhankhar had spoken strong words to the judiciary when the Supreme Court set a deadline for the President to approve the bills placed by the Governor for consideration.
Dhankhar had said, "We have judges who will make laws, perform executive functions, act as a super parliament and they will have no accountability because the law of the country does not apply to them."
