The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Gujarat ATS had to open fire to nab a Pakistani boat from the Arabian Sea. Heroin worth Rs 280 crore has been seized from nine people aboard the Pak boat.

A spokesman of the Ministry of Defense gave this information on Monday. Pakistan Boat 'Al Haj' was apprehended by Coast Guard patrol ships from Indian waters. The Pakistani fishing boat was trying to escape at high speed. During this, he was chased by a boat by the Indian Coast Guard. To stop him, the Indian team had to open fire. In this action, one crew member of the boat was injured and two others sustained minor injuries. Soon after, the Coast Guard ship Ankit, which was in the area, was sent to the spot to drag him. Pak boat will reach Jakhu port at 3 pm today.

ICG officials said that the Pakistani boat 'Al Haj' along with nine people had entered the Indian waters late Sunday night. She was trying to throw heroin packets into Indian territory. After a solid intelligence input, two Gujarat ATS officers were sent to the spot along with a Coast Guard ship. Meanwhile, the Pak boat was caught while throwing this packet.

In Gujarat, narcotics have been seized from Pakistani boats in the past as well. In December last year, 77 kg of heroin was seized off the Gujarat coast. Six crew members of the boat were arrested from Indian waters.
