Gurgaon, April 2 (IANS) Three booth-level officers here have been booked after the district election officer filed a police complaint following a sting operation by a TV channel that alleged they took bribes for preparing fake votes.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi got the first information reports registered Tuesday evening against the three officers - Ashok Kumar of Booth No.83 in Laxman Vihar, Karan Singh of Booth No.86 in the same area and Mahesh Kumar of Booth No.3 in Mianwali colony.
Vidyarthi also recommended disciplinary action against them.
The sting operation was shown on a TV news channel Tuesday evening.
Vidyarthi has also directed Gurgaon Electoral Registering Officer (ERO) Om Prakash to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the matter.
Forms required for inclusion of names in electoral rolls have been taken away by police, and work of distribution of voters' slips has also been withdrawn from the three officers.
