When the bus was passing through Derry Raliot, a hilly area in the Manjakot area of district Rajouri, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus fell straight into the gorge.
Some people saw the bus falling into the ditch. He immediately informed the police about it. As soon as the information was received, the army and police reached there for the rescue. They pulled out the injured from the bus that fell into the ditch and brought them on the main road and started transporting them to nearby hospitals. The local citizen said that about eight bodies were pulled out from the bus. These people died on the spot. The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital. The number of injured is said to be around 26.
