Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has filed an application in the Supreme Court regarding the Sambhal case. Jamiat has said that the courts are ordering a survey of religious places despite the 1991 Places of Worship Act. This is wrong. Jamiat has said that the Places of Worship Act, which talks about maintaining the 1947 form of religious places, should be fully implemented.
Jamiat's petition in this regard is pending in the Supreme Court. But it is not being heard. Jamiat's lawyer has written a letter to the Registrar of the Supreme Court demanding an early hearing on the Places of Worship Act.
The situation is getting normal.
Life is slowly getting normal after the violence that broke out during the survey of the Mughal-era Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Schools have reopened and many shops selling daily necessities have reopened. However, internet services are closed in Sambhal tehsil. District Information Officer Brijesh Kumar told PTI that as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, internet services will remain closed in Sambhal tehsil till 4 pm on Wednesday.
The situation in Sambhal town is fast returning to normal. Meanwhile, members of both Hindu and Muslim communities have called for unity and vowed to rebuild communal harmony. In view of the situation arising after the violence, police and administration officials are keeping a close watch on the situation. Personnel have been deployed at major intersections and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel are deployed in sensitive areas. The administration has banned the entry of outsiders and public representatives into Sambhal till November 30.
This is what the Moradabad Divisional Commissioner said.
Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh said on Tuesday, 'The situation in Sambhal is normal and shops are open. Some shops are closed in the area where violence broke out, but shops are open in other places and there is no tension anywhere. Security forces are deployed and the situation is under control, everyday routine is returning to normalcy.' He said, 'A case has also been registered against the regional MP and the son of the local MLA for instigating the mob. Further investigation is underway. CCTV footage is being examined.'
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Muniraj G said that the police were on duty and no untoward news came from anywhere in Sambhal on Tuesday. He said, 'Normalcy is being restored, shops are opening, there is no problem.'
