Guterres expressed grief over the incident of the bridge collapse in Morbi, condolences to the families of the victims

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep grief over the incident of the bridge collapse in Gujarat's Morbi city. Guterres expressed his deepest condolences to the victims and the families of the injured. At least 134 people lost their lives when a suspension bridge crashed in Gujarat's Morbi town on Sunday evening.

 

Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson of the Secretary-General, stated on Monday saying that the General Secretary is deeply saddened by the sad news of the collapse of the bridge in Morbi in Gujarat. Guterres expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and the Indian government, the statement said. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

 

The President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Saba Korosi, said in a tweet that the UN Secretary-General expressed deep grief over the loss of hundreds of lives in the bridge collapse in Gujarat. Guterres' condolences are with the victims and their families.
