Halal controversy after hijab: appeals to Hindus in Karnataka not to use halal meat; BJP general secretary called it economic jihad

After the hijab controversy that has been going on in Karnataka for the last several months, now the halal controversy seems to be gaining momentum. BJP national general secretary CT Ravi on Tuesday termed selling halal meat as economic jihad. Several right-wing organizations in Karnataka have been appealing on social media for the past few days to Hindus not to use Halal meat.

In the appeal, it is being asked not to use Halal meat after the Ugadi festival (Hindu New Year). A day after Ugadi, Hindus offer meat to God and celebrate the new year. The appeal not to take halal meat comes after the announcement of a ban on Muslim vendors around temples during Hindu religious fairs in some areas of Karnataka.

What is the whole matter?

CT Ravi said that halal meat is an economic jihad. This means that it is used as a jihad so that Muslims do not do business with others. It has been imposed. What's wrong with asking them not to use halal meat when they think that only halal meat should be used.

He said that halal meat is offered to their (Muslim) god. In such a situation, this meat for Hindus is like food left behind by someone. Ravi asked that when Muslims refuse to buy meat from Hindus, why are you asking Hindus to buy meat from Muslims?

On the question of opposition to Halal meat, the BJP leader said that this business is not one-sided but is done from both sides. He said that if Muslims are ready to eat non-halal meat, then only Hindus will use Halal meat.

HD Kumaraswamy appeals for peace in the state

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy have condemned the meat controversy and asked Hindu youths to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the state. Kumaraswamy said- I want to ask the government where do you want to take this state. I request the Hindu youth with folded hands not to spoil the atmosphere of the state.

Accused Congress

Kumaraswamy blamed Congress for such conditions of the state. He said- Congress has brought such a government into the state. Now Congress calls the BJP government immoral. Neither JDS nor HD Kumaraswamy is responsible for the current situation. The people of the state are facing problems due to the torture of Congress.

At the same time, 61 progressive thinkers of the state have written a letter to CM Basavaraj Bommai appealing to stop religious hatred. He said in the letter that deliberately creating religious hatred here is shameful. Among those who wrote the letter, were K. Maralusiddappa, Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah, Bolvar Mahmad Kunhi, and Dr. Vijay.
