Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said the Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral framework has "extraordinary potential" for cooperation. Russia can now prove to be an ally in encouraging positive dialogue between India and China. Russia and India are fully committed to ensuring that defense cooperation between the two strategic partners is not hampered by the Ukraine crisis and that barriers created by negative external factors can be effectively reduced. On the delivery of the S-400 missile system, Alipov said, "It is proceeding smoothly as per the schedule."
Deliberate misuse of disagreement between India and China
The Russian envoy on Sunday said the RIC's stance is very different from the policies of some powers that are being "deliberately misused" of disagreements between India and China. Alipov also condemned the US-led 'Indo-Pacific' initiative. He termed it a 'corrupt policy' but also praised India's decision to refuse to endorse the 'divisive' statement. The Ambassador said that the RIC is instrumental in enhancing "mutual understanding, trust and stability" in the region and can contribute more towards enhancing cooperation and coordination among the member countries. "Similarly, this is a priority format for Russia, which we believe can be helpful in promoting positive dialogue between India and China," he said.
America's special and corrupt policy in the Indo-Pacific
In a veiled criticism of the US, he said, "Its stance is certainly very different from the policy of some other powers, who are deliberately abusing the disagreement between India and China for their geopolitical game." Asked about cooperation between India and Russia amid the strategic competition in the Indo-Pacific region, Alipov said that the issue of 'Indo Pacific' has not yet been agreed upon. "We are also keeping in our mind that the US is using this terminology to refer to a specific and corrupt policy that openly threatened Russia before the Ukraine crisis escalated," he said.
Alipov said - Russia and India are committed to mutual cooperation in the defense sector
"Not only Russia, the US is encouraging such a policy to stop the multilateral format and push other countries into conflict," he said. "In this context, we appreciate the stand taken by India, which refused to engage in divisive statements," Alipov said. Alipov said, “Cooperation in the defense sector is one of the key pillars of the strategic partnership between Russia and India. Both our countries are very motivated to ensure that this cooperation continues uninterrupted.
On the overall supply of military equipment by Russia to India, Alipov said that if there are some delays in the payment of supplies and funds, they will not be significant. Asked about the annual summit between Russia and India this year, Alipov did not give a direct answer. “There is a personal understanding between our leaders. They communicate regularly and have a deep understanding. This year the two leaders spoke on the phone four times.
