What is Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan?
This campaign was started under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign. On 22 July 2022, Prime Minister Modi himself appealed to the people of the country to hoist the tricolor at their homes. Since then this campaign has been run every year. The Prime Minister said this campaign would deepen our association with the tricolor. He mentioned that the tricolor was adopted as the national flag on 22 July 1947.
What is its purpose?
Its objective is encouraging people to bring the tricolor home and hoist it on the Amrit Mahotsav of India's independence. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively in this way not only symbolises our connection to the tricolour but also our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind this initiative is to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of people and promote awareness about the Indian national flag.
