The noise of assembly elections in Haryana has stopped. Voting is on Saturday for 90 seats of the state. A total of 1031 candidates are contesting here. 2.03 crore voters of 90 assembly constituencies of 22 districts of Haryana are eligible to vote. In this election, the political fate of many bigwigs will also be at stake. This also includes big faces like the state's Chief Minister Naib Saini, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, INLD senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala, and former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala. In this election, everyone's eyes will be on the seats of these bigwigs. Let's know the status of their seats...
Naib Saini: Ladwa of Kurukshetra district is one of the most talked about seats in Haryana in this assembly election. Chief Minister Naib Saini has entered the election fray from here. Congress has fielded sitting MLA Meva Singh against him. Apart from this, Joga Singh Umri from the Aam Aadmi Party, Vinod Kumar Sharma from the Jannayak Janata Party, and Sapna Badshami from the Indian National Lok Dal have contested. In the 2019 assembly elections, Congress's Meva Singh won in Ladwa. He defeated BJP candidate Pawan Saini by 12637 votes.
Acting Chief Minister Saini is currently an MLA from Karnal assembly seat. There was a change of leadership in Haryana before the Lok Sabha elections. BJP removed Manohar Lal and made Naib Singh Saini, a prominent BJP leader from the OBC community and then MP from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha, the Chief Minister. Saini, who took over the responsibility of the post of State BJP President in 2023, took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana on 12 March 2024. To remain the Chief Minister, it became necessary for him to become a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly within six months. Therefore, a by-election was held on the Karnal seat on 25 May. In the by-election held on the Karnal assembly seat along with the Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate and CM Naib Saini won and became MLA. He defeated Tarlochan Singh of Congress by 41540 votes.
Bhupendra Singh Hooda: One of the hottest seats in the state is Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi. This assembly constituency falls in Rohtak district and Rohtak Lok Sabha constituency. Rohtak has traditionally been considered an area dominated by the Congress party and the Hooda family. Former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda is contesting from the Congress from the Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi seat here. The BJP has fielded Zila Parishad President Manju Hooda against him. In 2019, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda won here from the Congress. He defeated BJP candidate Satish Nandal by 58312 votes. Bhupendra Hooda has won from here five times. Bhupendra's father Ranveer Singh Hooda also won from Kiloi seat in 1968 on a Congress ticket.
Dushyant Chautala: Dushyant Chautala, who became the kingmaker in the last election, is contesting from Uchana Kalan's seat. The Uchana Kalan seat of Jind district in the Bangar belt is being counted among the hottest seats in the state.
In 2019, former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala won here from JJP. He defeated BJP candidate Prem Lata by 47452 votes. In this election, Dushyant is facing former MP Brijendra Singh from Congress, Devendra Chaturbhuj Atri from BJP, Pawan Fauji from Aam Aadmi Party, and Vinod Pal Singh Dulganch from Indian National Lok Dal.
Abhay Singh Chautala: Abhay Singh Chautala, grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal of the country, is once again contesting from the Ellenabad seat. This assembly constituency falls in the Sirsa district. Senior Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Singh Chautala is facing Amir Chand Talwara from BJP and Bharat Singh Beniwal from Congress. If we look at the old equations here, most of the contests have been in favor of Indian National Lok Dal. In 2019, the main contest in Ellenabad was seen between INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala and BJP's Pawan Beniwal. In that election, INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala was victorious by 11922 votes. BJP's Pawan Beniwal gave him a tough fight. INLD MLA from Ellenabad, Abhay Singh Chautala, resigned in January 2021 against the agricultural laws. After the by-election, Abhay Singh Chautala was re-elected MLA in the results that came in November 2021.
Anil Vij: Ambala Cantt assembly seat is also included in the special seats. Veteran Haryana leader and former Home Minister Anil Vij is in the fray from here. It is believed that the contest on the Ambala Cantt seat is triangular. On one side is six-time MLA Anil Vij, while on the other side is former Congress councilor Parvinder Singh Pari. Along with this, Chitra Sarwara, who rebelled against the Congress and filed an independent nomination, is also in the fray. In the 2019 elections, Anil Vij contested on a BJP ticket. Vij defeated independent candidate Chitra Sarwara by 20,165 votes. Chitra had also rebelled against Congress and contested the election last time. This was BJP candidate Vij's sixth victory from Ambala Cantt.
Ranjit Chautala: The electoral battle on the Rania seat of Sirsa district is among its people, which makes it special. Devi Lal's son Ranjit Chautala has entered the electoral fray as an independent. He wanted a ticket from the Rania assembly seat, but he did not get a ticket from the BJP. Angry with this, Ranjit resigned from the party and has now contested as an independent from this seat. INLD has fielded Arjun Chautala, the great-grandson of Devi Lal and son of senior party leader Abhay Singh Chautala. On this seat, the BJP has given a ticket to Sheeshpal Kamboj, the Congress has given a ticket to Sarv Mitra Kamboj and AAP has given a ticket to Happy Rania. In 2019, Ranjit Chautala won from here as an independent candidate. He defeated Gobind Kanda of the Haryana Lokhit Party by 19431 votes.
Aditya Surjewala: The electoral battle of Kaithal assembly seat is also considered special. Here the third generation of the Surjewala family is in the fray. Aditya, son of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, is the Congress candidate. BJP has fielded Leela Ram Gurjar here. Apart from this, Satbir Singh Goyat from Aam Aadmi Party and Sandeep Garhi from Jannayak Janata Party are in the fray. In 2019, Congress candidate Randeep Surjewala lost to BJP's Leela Ram Gurjar by just 1246 votes.
