Activist Manoj Jarange has launched a campaign in Maharashtra regarding Maratha reservation. Manoj has been on a hunger strike for the last several days. Manoj says that he will continue his fast till the Maratha reservation is implemented in the state. However, in the meantime, Manoj has agreed to talk to the Maharashtra government regarding Maratha reservation.

Today is the fifth day of Manoj Jarange's fast at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Manoj says that the protesters have not violated any law, and no one can stop us from entering the capital (Mumbai).

Statement of Manoj Jarange

Manoj Jarange has appealed to the people protesting for Maratha reservation to maintain peace. He says that he will convince the government of the Maratha reservation. The government should include Marathas in the Kunbi (agricultural caste of the OBC category), so that they also get benefits in government jobs and education.

According to Manoj Jarange,

I am ready for talks with the government. I can go to any extent for this. I will not move from this place until my demand is met. If you try to arrest us or throw us out of Mumbai, it will prove very dangerous for you.

Mumbai Police issued a notice

Mumbai Police today issued a notice to Jarange and his supporters and ordered them to vacate Azad Maidan. Police say that they have violated the rules of demonstration. Earlier, the Bombay High Court had also ordered Jarange to end the strike.
