The Central Vista Construction case was heard in the Supreme Court. Advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the petitioner during the hearing, said, "When there are circumstances of a medical emergency in the country, how can the construction work go on in such a situation?" That too at a time when workers are in health camps and the situation is very bad. ' The lawyer appealed to the Supreme Court to allow the matter to be heard on May 10 in the Delhi High Court.

The Supreme Court has rejected the petition to stay the construction work for the Central Vista project in New Delhi, as the matter is pending with the Delhi High Court. The petitioner had sought suspension of all types of construction activity in connection with the Central Vista Redevelopment Project in compliance with the orders issued by the DDMA because of the Corona boom in Delhi.

Earlier today, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also attacked the Central Government regarding the Central Vista Project. Responding to the Congress allegations, Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, 'Congress's discourse on Central Vista is bizarre. The cost of Central Vista is about 20,000 crores over many years. The Government of India has allocated approximately twice the amount for vaccination. India's health budget was more than 3 lakh crores this year. We know our priorities. ''

Earlier, Congress Party spokesperson Supriya Srinet also said that the government should focus on tackling the corona epidemic by closing all wasteful expenses including the Central Vista project, and ensuring transparency in the disbursement of foreign aid. It is in this situation that the central government's priority is to build a central vista of Rs 13,450 crore and a new bungalow for the Prime Minister. How can a government be so ruthless? When our Prime Minister has this condition, then the officials below him will have the same attitude. ''

A part of the Modi government's ambitious Central Vista project is to be ready by December 2022. The project is being constructed to commemorate 75 years of independence. However, despite the lockdown in Delhi, its work continues and it has been kept under the purview of essential services. Opposition parties are also strongly opposing it. The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a petition to immediately stop the work of the ongoing Central Vista project during the Corona crisis.
