The situation in Nepal is going from bad to worse. Meanwhile, the Nepal Army has imposed curfew, but the uproar is not stopping. Nepal's violence is also posing a threat to India's borders.
Central agencies are warning that, taking advantage of this storm in Nepal, miscreants can create trouble in India's border areas.
According to officials, intelligence inputs clearly state that under the guise of Nepal's uproar, anti-social elements can incite violence and damage government property. Therefore, the security forces deployed on the India-Nepal border have been put on high alert. This includes Uttarakhand Police, UP Police, Bihar Police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). All of them are increasing the surveillance of the border so that there is no disturbance.
Strict arrangements in border states
High security has been deployed in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar. The security forces here are fully alert so that law and order are maintained. Security has been tightened in Champawat, Uttarakhand. Mahendranagar of Nepal is connected from here. After the curfew imposed by the Nepal Army, the concern has increased here.
In Dharchula of Pithoragarh also, the border is also being monitored. Local people are worried because their relatives are stranded in Nepal. Security officers have increased surveillance on the border so that no suspicious person can enter. These areas explain how direct borders connect the two countries, but also bring dangers.
In Madhubani, Bihar, SSB is deployed at border posts. SP Yogendra Kumar said, "Madhubani Police is fully alert in view of the current situation in Nepal. All border police stations are on high alert. Circle inspectors and staff are on the field, especially keeping an eye on the border 24 hours a day."
He added, "Those crossing the border are being allowed after checking. IDs are being checked. Our aim is to ensure that no criminal element crosses." These arrangements show how the local police is implementing the alert of the Center, and the safety of the common people is being ensured.
Vigilance in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal
Security has been beefed up in seven border districts of Uttar Pradesh - Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, and Maharajganj.
DGP Rajiv Krishna said that the strategy includes 24-hour patrolling and strict checks at entry points. 73 checkpoints are on high alert. Lakhimpur Kheri SSP Sankalp Sharma said, "We are keeping an eye on the law and order situation in Nepal. There is constant coordination with the BSF and other security agencies. Joint patrolling is being done, and adequate police deployment has been ensured."
The situation at the Gauriphanta border is tense but under control. Strict monitoring is going on. There is also a high alert at the Panitanki border in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
Security forces are keeping 24-hour surveillance. All these arrangements explain how the Center and the state are jointly keeping the border safe, so that the uproar in Nepal does not spread to India.
