The fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was unable to deliver his speech during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President's address in the Lok Sabha has now become a major political issue. BJP MPs Manoj Tiwari and Kangana Ranaut, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, have sharply criticized the incident and leveled serious allegations.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, "The country saw what happened yesterday. I requested the PM not to come. The female MPs had gathered there. Considering the situation, I requested the PM not to come because an untoward incident could have happened with the PM."
"Bringing posters will not work in Parliament,"
Speaker Om Birla said that this is against the dignity of the House. He thanked the PM for accepting his request. The House has been adjourned until 11 AM tomorrow. Om Birla told the opposition that Parliament will not function if they bring posters.
Speaker Om Birla said that the behavior of some members in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday was wrong. The behavior of some opposition members in the Speaker's office is a "black mark." We all should cooperate in running the House smoothly.
"There was a plan to attack the Prime Minister."
Kangana Ranaut, the Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, alleged that before PM Modi was to respond to the discussion on the President's address, Congress MPs completely surrounded the Prime Minister's path. The opposition MPs also tried to attack the Lok Sabha Speaker. Their plan was to directly attack the Prime Minister. Kangana said, "The opposition's female MPs had gathered at the place where the Prime Minister sits. In such an atmosphere, it was the right decision for the Prime Minister not to deliver his speech."
What did Manoj Tiwari say?
BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said, "They (the opposition) had completely surrounded the area, that's why the Prime Minister didn't come. About 7-8 female MPs from the opposition came forward and completely surrounded the area where the Prime Minister sits and the area from where the Prime Minister enters. That's why the Prime Minister had to stop."
