Pictures of many students have surfaced on their way to school and college from Shivamogga town in the morning. Schools and colleges have been reopened in the city after about a week. Institutions had to be closed after the murder of a Bajrang Dal worker
Tension escalated in the region when a Sangh Parivar organization Bajrang Dal activist Harsh was brutally murdered in Shivamogga amid a row over whether or not to wear the hijab in educational institutions in the state. During the hijab controversy, the state government had imposed Section-144 in the area because of the possibility of communal tension worsening due to this massacre. Along with this, all schools and pre-university colleges were also ordered to be closed.
Exam time for students is near
However, peace remained in the state for almost a week after the massacre. There was no major incident nor any major protest due to Section-144. In such a situation, the state government has extended Section-144. At the same time, schools and pre-university colleges have also reopened, as the time for examinations of students is near.
Hearing completed in High Court will pronounce the decision soon
