Himachal Pradesh: 55 people died due to sky storm, landslides, and cloud bursts in Himachal; hundreds of roads closed

Landslide in Shimla: Heavy rain continues to wreak havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Due to the natural calamity there, life is completely disturbed. There are frequent reports of landslides and cloud bursts from many areas of the state. So far 55 people have died in this accident. At the same time, 12 people died in the landslide in the Shiva temple. This figure can even reach 21. Still, the situation remained bad. Many roads are still closed. At the same time, today again a massive landslide has occurred in the Summer Hill area of Shimla.

 

No casualties or injuries reported

No casualty or injury has been reported so far in the landslide in Summer Hill area. As soon as the information was received, the concerned officials reached the spot. Sniffer dogs and rescue teams are present at the spot and their search operation is on. Earlier, on Tuesday, the Indian Air Force airlifted 18 army personnel to aid in the rescue operation following a landslide in Shimla.

 

 

Extensive damage to buildings and properties

A Chinook helicopter of Western Air Command today airlifted 18 Indian Army personnel and a 3-tonne mini dozer for rescue in landslide-affected areas near Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Incessant rains continued to wreak havoc in parts of Himachal Pradesh, causing damage to buildings and properties.

 

Houses collapsed like a pack of cards

On Tuesday, 5 to 7 houses collapsed like a pack of cards after a landslide in the Krishna Nagar area of Shimla. According to officials, some residents are feared to be trapped under the debris and NDRF, SDRF, and state police personnel are leading the rescue operation. The administration said that our primary focus is to save as many people as possible. So far there is news of one casualty. All agencies are working to save lives.

 

More than 55 people died

Around 10-15 houses have been evacuated from the area and the occupants have been shifted to safer places. Significantly, at least 55 people have lost their lives due to landslides, cloud bursts, and road blockage due to heavy rains for the past several days. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu held a meeting with the high-powered committee on Tuesday to further intensify the disaster management efforts.

 

400 roads were restored out of 1,220 blocked roads

The CM said that due to the 157 percent increase in rainfall in the last four days, there has been widespread damage across the state. He said that the government is doing relief and rescue work fast. The CM informed the meeting that out of the total 1,220 blocked roads, around 400 have been restored. At the same time, he also issued instructions for the speedy restoration of electricity and drinking water supply.

 

Many houses fell due to mountain slide

A horrifying video of a landslide in the Krishna Nagar ward of Shimla is going viral on social media. A mountain has moved into the area. More than 10 houses have come under its grip. In no time, the house fell apart like a pack of cards. Underneath it used to be the slaughterhouse of the city, which has completely disappeared in the rubble.

 

More than 500 rains uprooted in Shimla

Over 500 trees have been uprooted due to torrential rains in Shimla, causing inconvenience to the people. However, the Forest Department has to dispose of the fallen trees speedily and properly.
