The Home Ministry on Thursday banned The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organization of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The TRF was behind most of the attacks on Kashmiri Pandits and migrant workers as well as on security forces and civilians in Kashmir over the past few years. TRF commander Sajjad Gul has already been declared a terrorist by the Government of India.
According to a notification issued on Thursday, TRF has also been added to the list of banned organizations along with LeT under the first schedule of UAPA. The notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs states that The Resistance Front came into existence in the year 2019 as a proxy organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a banned terrorist organization listed as serial number 5 of the First Schedule under UAPA.
The organization is also involved in the smuggling of arms and drugs: Ministry of Home Affairs
The Home Ministry said that Lashkar's proxies are running campaigns on internet media platforms to recruit people of Jammu and Kashmir into terrorist organizations against the Indian state and to incite people against India. The organization is also involved in the cross-border smuggling of arms and drugs. The activities of this terrorist group are detrimental to India's national security and sovereignty. A large number of cases have also been filed against members and associates of The Resistance Front.
Mohammad Amin was declared a terrorist
