Manipur has been burning in the fire of violence since last year. More than a year has passed since the violence started between the Kuki and Meitei communities, but the situation has not yet returned to normal. However, the situation remained tense but under control on Wednesday after clashes between students and security forces during the march to the Raj Bhavan. At the same time, Congress MP from Inner Manipur A Bimol Akoijam has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing deep anguish over the violence crisis. Claims of continuous peace restoration here are constantly falling apart.

Curfew continues this morning as well.

A senior official said that the curfew imposed in the state capital Imphal on Tuesday afternoon continued this morning as well. Additional security forces have been deployed and policemen are continuously patrolling the city to avoid any untoward incident. He said that the situation is tense but under control.

Students took out a march over worsening law and order.

Students marched towards the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday over the worsening law and order in Manipur. Many students were injured in the encounter between students and security forces. The students are demanding that the state's DGP and Security Advisor have failed to deal with the deteriorating law and order situation. Hence, they should be removed from their posts. They were marching towards the Raj Bhavan to pressurize for this demand.

Internet banned in five districts.

The government issued a revised order on Tuesday evening, which said that the ban on internet services in view of the students' agitation will be applicable only in five districts of the valley.

Tear gas shells were fired to disperse the protesters.

The police said that the protesters raised slogans during this time. Stones and marbles were thrown at the security personnel. This forced the policemen to fire tear gas shells to disperse them. An indefinite curfew was imposed in Imphal East and Imphal West districts in view of the protest.

A student organization claimed that more than 55 students were injured in the clash and have been admitted to RIMS hospital.

'Students met the Governor'

In a statement issued late Tuesday night, the Raj Bhavan said, 'The representatives of the students met Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and submitted a memorandum. These people urged the Governor to take appropriate steps to meet the demands. The Governor assured that he would take steps in the interest of the students and the people of Manipur.'

Congress MP wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amidst all this, Congress MP from Inner Manipur A Bimol Akoijam wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He urged for decisive action by the security forces to curb the violence.

The current situation in Manipur is reminiscent of 1947...

In his letter to Amit Shah, Akoijam also called for a thorough investigation into the allegations of involvement of illegal immigrants, foreign elements, and drug mafia in the current crisis. He wrote that the current situation in Manipur is reminiscent of the partition of India in 1947, which is particularly painful given the government's recent efforts to commemorate August 14 as 'Partition Horrors Memorial Day'.

'If this had happened in Gujarat, the Home Minister would have also been saddened'

The MP said that if the same had happened in Gujarat, Shah would also have been deeply saddened. He urged the Home Minister to ensure that the security forces act decisively and judiciously to curb the violence.

60 thousand people were left homeless

He further said, 'I am sad to remind you that this violence has led to hundreds of deaths and about 60,000 people have become homeless. At the time I write this letter, not only are thousands of internally displaced people (IDPs) still living in relief camps in miserable conditions, but this unprecedented violence also continues.'
