Home Ministry: India-Bangladesh will strengthen cooperation on issues related to security and border, an agreement made in the meeting

India and Bangladesh will further deepen and strengthen cooperation on security and border issues. This agreement was reached in the 18th meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) of the two countries on security and border management. In a two-day meeting that ended here on Tuesday, the two countries noted the excellent bilateral relations and reiterated their commitment to further deepen cooperation on bilateral issues, a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

 

 

Issues of fencing and development work within 150 yards of the International Border, and cooperation in combating infiltration, counter-insurgency, terrorism, organized crime, and smuggling were also discussed in the meeting. The Indian delegation was led by Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Bangladesh delegation was led by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, A.K. Mukhlesur Rahman. Officials said that this Additional Secretary level meeting was in a way for the preparations for the Home Secretary level talks between the two countries.
