If the child is showing symptoms like high fever and shivering, then be careful. Let us know how you can keep your piece of heart away and safe from infection during the third wave of the corona. Let us know the special tips of experts to save your little one from this corona epidemic.

1- Dr. PN Arora, MD of Yashoda Hospital, Ghaziabad, says that the third wave of the corona is more contagious than the other two waves. It is also dangerous for children. He said that in the first and second waves, the effect of the coronavirus was not on the children, but the third wave can also infect children. For this one needs to be more careful and alert.

2- He said that children infected with the coronavirus are showing symptoms of high fever and shivering. Therefore these symptoms should not be ignored. The age of corona-infected children is between 11 to 17 years. He said that even children below two years of age are showing these symptoms. Dr. Arora said that its features are slightly different from the Delta variant. So there is a need to be more alert. He said that, unlike Delta, loss of taste and smell is not common in Omicron patients. Dr. Arora said that however, most of the children do not require ventilation.

3- He said that the common symptoms of the disease in children should not be ignored at all. Dr. Arora says that on seeing common symptoms, contact the doctor immediately and get treatment only after consulting him. Like other patients, there is no need to admit infants to the hospital in case of high fever. Admit children to the hospital only on the advice of the doctor. He stressed that there is a need to be vigilant instead of being more panicked about Corona. The guidelines need to be followed strictly. He said that two-year-old children are in the high-risk zone. The severity of infection in them is similar to that of the delta variant.

4- Dr. Arora says that the severity of infection in adults is less than that of the delta variant. He said that the Omicron virus mainly affects the upper respiratory tract of the patient. Therefore, symptoms like cold, headache, runny nose are seen in it. Apart from this, fever also comes with shivering. He said that unlike the second wave of coronavirus, loss of taste and smell is not very common in Omicron patients. He said that only two or three out of ten patients are complaining of loss of smell and taste.

What are Variants of Concern?

Omicron viruses continuously mutate. Coronavirus constantly changes form, that is, their new version keeps coming. This is called a variant. Some of these variants may be more dangerous, or there may be those that spread very rapidly. In the terminology of scientists, they are considered as variants of concern. There have been changes in the coronavirus that have never been seen before. Most of these changes have occurred in the parts of the virus where existing vaccines attack. This part of the virus is called the spike protein. The change in the spike protein portion of the Omicron variant initially caused concern that the current vaccines might be ineffective on Omicron.
