New Delhi, PTI The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given a revised consultation on the use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The ICMR has also recommended the addition of asymptomatic health workers working in non-Covid-19 hospitals, broadening the scope of hydroxychloroquine. Indeed, the government has recommended the use of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive drug. The government-revised advisory includes asymptomatic healthcare working in non-COVID-19 hospitals, frontline workers deployed in surveillance zones in containment zones, and hydroxychloroquine drugs to police and paramilitary forces involved in corona virus infection activities.
It is being told that a joint monitoring group headed by the Directorate General of Health Services and representatives of AIIMS, ICMR, National Center for Disease Control, National Disaster Management Authority, WHO and experts from Central Government Hospitals are involved in corona affected and non-corona affected areas. This advisory was issued to all health workers working in the US after a recommendation in a review meeting to use this medicine.
Hydroxychloroquine is a drug used in the treatment of malaria. Health workers in India had already been allowed to use hydroxychloroquine to prevent corona and now the government has expanded its scope of use. Actually, no vaccine or drug of corona virus has been discovered yet. In such a situation, patients are being cured by the use of alternative medicines. Healthcare workers have also been given permission to use hydroxychloroquine to prevent infection.
Lancet enumerated hydroxychloroquine losses
While India has expanded its scope of use of hydroxychloroquine, the famous journal that publishes research in the field of health, The Lancet, says that there has been no evidence of benefit from hydroxychloroquine. It has also claimed that its use has increased the death rate of corona patients. However, the US has taken a positive view of hydroxychloroquine.
Trump is also taking hydroxychloroquine
US President Donald Trump recently revealed that he is taking the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine along with zinc to protect against the corona virus. Earlier, US government experts also said that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in the treatment of coronavirus infection Covid-19. In such a situation, confusion about hydroxychloroquine has not been cleared all over the world. However, in the meantime the Indian government has increased its trust in hydroxychloroquine.
