Putin said this while addressing the nation on television. He said that western countries are waging all kinds of campaigns against Russia. Putin said, we first adopt the peaceful path of dialogue. But when that does not solve the problem then we are free to use the means available to us. But Ukraine's latest attacks on Russian air bases have undermined the prospect of a ceasefire.

Eight were killed in Russian shelling
