'If I was a selector, I would have picked Rishabh Pant in every team'; Former Australia opener supported the wicket-keeper batsman

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant did not find a place in the playing XI of the first T20 match against Australia and Dinesh Karthik was selected in his place. However, Karthik was dismissed after scoring six runs in five balls. Karthik has scored only 7, 6, 12, and 1 in the last four T20 Internationals. Karthik and Pant are India's two options for the wicket-keeper slot. India suffered a four-wicket defeat against Australia at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. The Indian team could not defend this score even after scoring 208 runs for 6 wickets.

Both the Indian squads have been selected for the T20 World Cup to be held next month. It seems that the team management is probably more inclined in Karthik's favour. However, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden does not completely agree with this and believes that whatever the circumstances, Pant is a must for India in all three formats.

Hayden said on Star Sports, “If I was a selector, I would pick Rishabh Pant in every team. He is the future. They need support and for that they need time. Whether it is through runs or form, he has to be in my opinion. He is the best and fits in every aspect.
