If Team India does not play, will the Asia Cup 2025 be cancelled? PCB fears loss of crores

The Asia Cup 2025 to be held in the month of September is in danger. Reports have emerged that the Indian cricket team will not play in this tournament. There has been no official statement from the BCCI regarding this. According to the Indian Express report, the Indian team will not participate in the Asia Cup.

Let us tell you that this time India is hosting the Asia Cup 2025, but given the tension between India and Pakistan after the 26 innocent people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, it seems difficult that the two teams will play matches among themselves.

What will happen if Team India does not play

Actually, the head of the Asia Cricket Council (ACC) is the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, due to which the BCCI did not have the chance to think of excluding Pakistan from the tournament, but the BCCI itself is considering withdrawing from the tournament. This news would have given a big blow to the Pakistan Cricket Board. Now if India withdraws its name from this tournament, then what will happen to the Asia Cup 2025?

Will the Asia Cup 2025 be played without India?

Without India, the fun of Asia Cup 2025 (Asia Cup 2025 India Pakistan) will be spoiled, because most of the sponsors of this tournament are from India, and if Team India does not play the tournament, it will be difficult to get sponsors, which will cause a loss to PCB.

Everyone is aware of the craze of India and Pakistan match and ACC earns a lot from the match between these two teams. Now if there is no big match between India and Pakistan, then it will suffer financial loss. Mohsin Naqvi will have a chance to include any other Asian team in place of India, but there are more expectations that this tournament can be cancelled without India.

If the Indian team remains adamant on its decision, then the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may suffer huge financial loss. According to a Business Today report, India's participation in the Asia Cup and ICC events earns the PCB around Rs 165-220 crore ($20-26 million) per cycle.

India-Pakistan matches often break viewership records and bring in a lot of money from advertisers. The broadcast rights for the 2024-2032 Asia Cup were sold to Sony Pictures Networks India for $170 million, largely due to India's participation. Currently, each ACC member gets 15% of the broadcast revenue, which could soon stop.
