Ceasefire: 'If there was a discussion with Trump, then the government will have to tell', DMK leader sought clarification from the central government

As India and Pakistan move towards a ceasefire, senior DMK leader TKS Elangovan has welcomed the alleged mediation efforts of US President Donald Trump. He called it "a good step", but also said that the Indian government should clarify what was discussed with Trump.

Questions raised on Trump's claim and Modi's silence

The DMK leader said, "US President Donald Trump has claimed that he has talked to both the governments of India and Pakistan to stop the war. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not mention it in his speech on Monday night. If Trump has discussed with the Indian government, then it should be brought before the public."

Demand for strict action against terrorism

The DMK leader also expressed his views on the issue of terrorism. He said, "Terrorism has no place in a civilized society. It should be completely eradicated, and terrorists should be punished. That is why our leader has supported the steps taken by the Indian government." Elangovan also said that the information about the talks held between the DGMOs (senior army officials) of India and Pakistan should also be made public. 'People have the right to know on what basis the talks took place between the two armies'.

PM Modi's strong message to Pakistan

While addressing the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Modi gave a strong message to Pakistan. He said that 'terror and talks' and 'terror and trade' cannot go together. The Prime Minister said that after the surgical strike of 2016, the air strike of 2019, and now through Operation Sindoor, India has further tightened its policy against terrorism. PM Modi said, 'If there are any talks with Pakistan, it will be only on terrorism and the evacuation of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.'

DMK is with the government, but transparency is also necessary

At the same time, TKS Elangovan said that DMK is with the Government of India in every step against terrorism. He said, 'We appreciate the steps taken by the government to eliminate terrorists and stand with the government. But at the same time, the public also has the right to know what was discussed with Trump and what was the basis of the talks between India and Pakistan DGMOs.'
