The joint entrance exam for admission in Indian engineering institutes is now going to be global. For the first time outside the country, the central government plans to conduct IIT-JEE Mains simultaneously in 25 countries including Vietnam, and America. However, last year this exam was held in Kuala Lumpur, Lagos. Earlier, the IIT-JEE examination has been conducted in 12 countries with the help of the Government of India.
IIT-JEE will be conducted in other countries including America, Australia, South Africa, Singapore, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates. This year, about 3900 undergraduate and 1300 postgraduate seats are also being made available for NRIs and Indian and foreign nationals studying abroad. These seats will be reserved in top engineering institutes in the country.
IIT institutes excluded from the scheme
According to the Union Education Ministry, under the DASA i.e. Direct Admission of Student Abroad Scheme, these students will be given admission to Indian higher educational institutions. Foreign students will be able to get admission to the National Institute of Technology, National Institute of Information Technology, School of Planning and Architect, and other central government-funded technical educational institutions. These also include Triple IT and NIT. However, this system will not be applicable in IITs. At present, all the IITs in the country have been kept out of it.
15% seats will be provided
15 percent of the total seats will be provided for the scheme in NITs, IIITs, and centrally funded technical institutes by the Ministry of Education.
Admissions are done for more than 40000 seats
According to Professor CS Kandpal, JEE Advanced exam is taken after JEE Mains. Based on the results of JEE Advanced, more than 40 thousand seats of JFTI, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, and 23 Triple ITs, are admitted to the country. Last year, 1,41,699 candidates appeared in both Paper 1 and 2 of JEE (Advanced) 2021. 13 different languages have been approved for important exams like JEE. JEE Mains exams are to be conducted in two different phases during June and July this year. The first phase of JEE Mains exam is starting on June 20.
