Kolkata, March 24 (IANS) Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur is launching short-term courses on niche subjects via video conferencing for students of engineering colleges and working professionals from April, it said in a statement.
"The Institute is launching a unique first of its kind 'Knowledge Dissemination Programme' for faculty and students of engineering colleges, working professionals from research and development organisations and industry with effect from April 2015," the institute said in a statement on Monday.
The programme intends to cover niche topics through 13 short modular courses of 10 hours duration.
"The courses under this Dissemination Programme course are targeted towards students and faculty members of TEQIP-II Institutions, IIT Kharagpur students, entrepreneurs, working professionals from R and D organisations, and industry all over the country," the statement said.
These subjects are designed around current and multidisciplinary themes of science, engineering and management.
The institute will issue a course completion certificate to all participants who attend classes regularly on recommendation from the coordinator.
The first edition will include courses in Embedded System Design, Microfuidics and Nanofluidics,
Data Mining, Hydrologic Design in a Changing Climate, Wireless Sensor Network and Internet of Things, Thermoelectricity: The art of waste heat recovery and Creativity and Innovation at Work and Effective Speaking and Making Presentations.
The modular courses will be conducted live through video conferencing at IIT-Kgp campuses in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.
For a wider outreach and to enable the participants attend the programme after their office/class hours, the live/video modular courses will be conducted during evening/weekends, the statement said.
