The floods in Pakistan and the horrific devastation caused by them are not hidden from anyone. 60-65 lakh people have become homeless in this flood and more than 1700 people have died. The country has suffered heavy losses due to the flooding of lakhs of cattle, submergence of lakhs of hectares of cultivable land, and property worth crores of rupees. The government has made it clear that it cannot do anything alone to deal with this disaster. The government has appealed to the world for help and the number for donating to the PM Relief Fund has also been made public. Not only this, but the UN has also expressed concern over the damage caused by this flood and appealed to the world for help. However, the effect of this appeal seems to be negligible.
UN fails to meet the target
This is because the UN has not been able to raise even half of the funds it had set for Pakistan. Not only this, now UN Humanitarian Coordinator Julian Henry has said that he has not yet received any money for clean water and health services in Pakistan. He has also said that the promise which was said to be given in these items in Pakistan is empty. Let us tell you that this agency of the United Nations performs many other public interest works including the provision of health services, sanitation, and clean drinking water in the world. But neither the United Nations fund has been raised in the name of Pakistan, nor has this agency received any money. The big question here is why it is so. We have the answer too.
image of a terrorist country
The image of Pakistan that remains in the world is that of a terrorist country. From here the terrorists have been trained and sent to other countries. This is the reason why FATF has put Pakistan on the gray list even after three years. This agency believes that even to date, Pakistan has not taken any concrete action on terrorists and funding related to them. Because of this, Pakistan is isolated from the whole world. At the same time, China is also a major reason for cutting off other countries from Pakistan. The image of China is that of a country showing grandeur in the world and constantly trying to increase its borders. China has a figure of about thirty-six from Western countries and many Asian countries including America. This is a major reason why Pakistan is not getting funds even in the name of helping the flood victims.
OIC also pulled a helping hand
Not only these countries or institutions are giving funds to Pakistan, but the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its member countries have also not helped Pakistan in the name of helping the flood victims. Saudi Arabia sent about 1,000 tonnes of food packets last month and Turkey initially sent a few lakh tents in the name of help. Apart from this, all other countries are still behind. This is a clear indication that Pakistan has no respect not only on the world stage but also in its organization. Even the countries of the world have not paid any attention to Pakistan's appeal to the world.
US ignores UN appeal
Let us tell you here that during the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, the UN Chief had asked PM Shahbaz Sharif to hold a conference in any country in Europe to raise relief funds. But Pakistan ignored his point. After this, America asked Pakistan to appeal to President Xi Jinfin to forgive the debt received from China. This too was ignored by Pakistan. Not only this, China had even advised America on this statement. The promise that America had made to Pakistan in the name of a relief fund is still incomplete. All this is coming to the fore when the UN report also expressed concern about the condition of Pakistan.
