China: Chinese government in tension due to decreasing population, now brought this plan to boost birth rate

The decreasing population of China has increased the tension in the Jinping government. New schemes are now being introduced to increase the birth rate in the country. In this sequence, China has come up with a wonderful plan for newly married couples, under which these couples will be given 30 days of paid marriage leave so that husband and wife can spend time with each other and become a partner in increasing the population. Let us inform you that earlier in China only three days of paid leave were available for marriage. But when the population started decreasing rapidly here, the government was forced to change its policy.

What is the purpose of this scheme?

The change aims to encourage young couples to marry and have children. While some provinces of China are giving 30 days of marriage leave, others have a provision of about 10 days of leave. Gansu and Shanxi provinces are giving 30 days, while Shanghai is giving 10 and Sichuan is still only giving three days. Speaking to the Reuters news agency, Yang Haiyang, dean of the Social Development Research Institute of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, said that increasing marriage leave is one of the effective ways to increase the fertility rate.

On the reverse of strict policy on population, China is falling heavily

China's population declined from 1980 to 2015 due to the implementation of a strict one-child policy. In 2022, China recorded its lowest birth rate of 6.77 births per 1,000 people, which experts believe has had a financial impact on the country's economy. The country is also facing the burdensome challenge of an unprecedented and rapidly growing population. According to the population estimates announced by China, its population declined by 8.5 lakhs last year. Such a decline in China's population has come for the first time since the 1960s.
