IND vs BAN Test: Bangladesh may be punished for this mistake in the test against India, will ICC take action?

The Test match being played between India and Bangladesh in Chennai has reached a decisive stage. Two innings have been completed in two days of play. Team India is batting in its second innings. In such a situation, the result of the match can be out in a day or two. The Bangladesh team led by Nazmul Hussain Shanto started the match in a great way, but the Indian team currently has a strong hold on the match. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh team has made a mistake due to which they may have to face problems. The ICC may also be keeping an eye on this matter, but the question is whether any action will be taken.

 

Bangladesh has lost its grip in the match, but a bigger problem than that may be troubling the team because despite getting a half-hour extension on the first day, the team was 10 overs behind the limit of scheduled overs. This can lead to the team being punished by the ICC. This can further increase Bangladesh's troubles as this team was fined three points of the World Test Championship and 15 percent of the match fee only last month. They were penalized after being found three overs short during their first Test match against Pakistan.

 

Talking about the ongoing match against India, Bangladesh could bowl only 80 overs in the entire day. They bowled 23 overs in the first session, 25 in the second, and 32 in the final session. Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote on Twitter, 'Bangladesh bowled less than 80 overs despite half an hour of extra time. This should be unacceptable.' According to Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions- 'A team will have one (1) World Test Championship competition point deducted from its total points for every single penalty over it has during the round stage.'

 

The second day of the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh has ended. India scored 81 runs in their second innings after losing three wickets till the end of the second day's play. India had scored 376 runs in their first innings. At the same time, Bangladesh's first innings was reduced to 149 runs and Rohit and company got a lead of 227 runs. Now India's total lead has become 308 runs. Shubman Gill is unbeaten on 33 runs and Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 12 runs. India suffered three setbacks in the second innings in the form of Rohit Sharma (5), Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) and Virat Kohli (17).
