IND vs NZ: India's Test team against New Zealand announced, Rahane will captain in the first match, Virat will return from the second match

The BCCI selectors on Friday announced the Indian team for the two-Test series against New Zealand. Virat Kohli has been rested for the first Test in the 16-man squad announced by the selectors. Ajinkya Rahane has been made the captain of the team in his place. The same, the responsibility of vice-captain has been handed over to Cheteshwar Pujara. Virat Kohli will join Team India in the second test match to be played in Mumbai. The first match of the series will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Whereas, the second match will be held in Mumbai.

 

Rohit rests

 

Opener Rohit Sharma has been rested for the two-Test series against New Zealand. Hitman has been playing cricket continuously for Team India for the past several months. He will play in a series of three T20 International matches to be played against the Kiwi team. Rohit has been appointed as the captain after Virat Kohli stepped down as the T20 captain.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, the players who have been rested for the Test series against New Zealand include Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami. All these players have been given rest under the BCCI policy because of the workload.
