The three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka has started in a very exciting way. The first match of this series was a tie. Both the teams scored equal and then that work was recorded in history which had never happened before at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The match between India and Sri Lanka is the first tied ODI match played on this ground.
Sri Lankan captain Charitha Asalanka won the toss and batted first and scored 230 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Team India was all out for 230 runs 13 balls earlier. With this, this match between India and Sri Lanka was tied.
This happened for the first time in 38 years
This is the first ODI tie match in the history of Premadasa. The first ODI match was played on this ground on April 5, 1986. Since then till now i.e. till 2024, not a single ODI match was tied on this ground in the history of about 38 years. Since then a total of 149 matches have been played on this ground. The 150th match was finally tied and history was created.
Team India is sad
Team India could have won this match but it did not happen. With the dismissal of Shivam Dubey and then Arshdeep Singh in the 48th over, the match was drawn. Team India had to score just one run in 13 balls to win, which they could not do.
