The old name of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was Motera. It was given a new look on the orders of the government and the name was also changed. This stadium has been a witness to many historical records. The legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar completed his 10,000 test runs in 1987 at this ground. Sunil has been a part of the World Cup-winning team.

 

Former captain Kapil Dev became the highest wicket-taker in Tests in 1994 at the Motera Stadium. He has also been the captain of the World Cup-winning Indian team. After Kapil Dev, the player called the God of Cricket, Sachin has also made a special record here. He scored his only double century in 1999.

 

Along with the batsmen, bowlers have also made many records on this ground in Ahmedabad. Top Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took his 400th Test wicket here. At the same time, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh scored his first Test century.

 

Apart from this, Kapil Dev took nine wickets for 83 runs against West Indies in 1983. While Sachin completed his 18,000th run (in the 2011 World Cup against Australia). Veteran player VVS Laxman made his Test debut against South Africa in 1996 at this ground.
