Coronavirus Update 21 Dec because of the speed of corona in many countries of the world including China, the government has also become alert. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the pandemic situation on Wednesday. It was decided in the meeting that now every week the condition of Corona will be reviewed. Amidst all this, the former AIIMS chief has also issued a warning regarding new cases of the corona. Former AIIMS director Randeep Guleria has asked high-risk groups to take booster doses at the earliest. He said that viral infection increases in winter. In such a situation, people with high risk need better care. He said that a booster dose is very important to keep high-risk people away from infection.
It is known that Dr. Randeep Guleria is currently the Chairman of the Institute of Internal Medicine and Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and Director at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram. When asked whether the rapidly growing corona cases in Beijing could affect India as well in the coming months? Guleria asserted that the situation in India is much better than that of China. However, people need to be cautious. He said that there has been a decrease in testing in India. In winter, people are not getting tested considering it to be viral flu. If there are more tests then the mutation of the virus will be known.
India is on alert because of increasing corona cases in China. Randeep Guleria, former director of AIIMS, has answered many questions during a TV interview on what precautions should be taken regarding Corona -
How will the new Corona variant affect India?
Are we going to see more cases in the coming days or are we going to see a wave of hospitalizations and deaths? Dr. Guleria said, “Our immunity is high and this variant does not cause pneumonia-like the delta wave, so I think we may see an increase in mild illnesses, but not in hospitalizations or deaths.”
Is the fourth shot of vaccine mandatory?
Should the fourth vaccine shot be made mandatory for the people of India? Guleria said- 'This is something on which we need more data. We don't have enough data to say what the current situation is in terms of our immunity. It may be fair to say that after a year it may be worthwhile to have a second booster. But the issue is whether the booster is as effective as it was before or whether we need to change our vaccine strategy. So we need more data. If you've already had a booster, there's no rush to get another. But we also need good quality research to understand the efficacy of current vaccines and whether we need a new vaccine to cover the circulating strains.
Dr. Guleria said- Data shows that people who have taken boosters are less likely to have long covid. Therefore, I would urge all those who have not taken a booster shot, to do so not only to protect themselves from the new variant but also to have some protection against developing Covid in the long run."
'Covid is not over yet'
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the country. He directed the officers to be vigilant and strengthen the surveillance system.
