Fifteen lives have been lost so far due to the contaminated water supply in Bhagirathpura. On Friday morning, 68-year-old Geeta Bai, who was admitted to MYH hospital, passed away. The most affected area is Pan Wali Gali in the slum. More than 20 people from this area have been hospitalized. After the incident, the department collected water samples, and the test results have now been released. According to the report, the water was not potable. "The poisonous water took my mother. Please save my son..."
The victims of this poisonous water tragedy are still admitted to hospitals. Sanjay Yadav is among them. His mother died due to the contaminated water, and his son is also hospitalized. Sanjay and his wife also suffered from vomiting and diarrhea and were admitted to the hospital. Sanjay said that his mother closed her eyes in front of him, and now he is worried about his son. His son was given ten bottles of saline. Sanjay said, "The poisonous water took my mother, but the government should save my son." This is the same family that refused to accept a check from Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.
Water was added to packaged milk before feeding it to the baby.
The poisonous water also snatched away five-month-old Avyan Sahu from his family. The family has one daughter. Avyan was born after ten years. He was born on July 8th. Happiness had returned to the family after many years. After the child's death, the mother is not in a condition to speak. Avyan's father, Sunil, said that after the delivery, his wife was not producing enough milk. Therefore, they started giving Avyan formula milk. Packaged milk is too thick for a newborn. To make it easier for him to digest, they used to mix water with it. Little did they know that the poisonous water would snatch away their son. Avyan first suffered from diarrhea, so they took him to a clinic. The medicine didn't help. In the meantime, he developed a high fever. They took him to the hospital, but by then, he had already passed away. Daughter fed, then fell ill; Manjula Wade died from poisoned water. Manjula had four daughters. She had cooked dinner for her daughter, who had come from her in-laws' house. The daughter returned home. That night, Manjula started vomiting. Her husband said they took her to the hospital, but after some time, the doctors declared her dead.
Deadly bacteria in the water
The water supplied to the houses in Bhagirathpura contained harmful bacteria. This was revealed in the preliminary report from the medical college. This water was not potable, but it had been supplied for the past month. People fell ill after drinking it, and 14 people have lost their lives in this incident so far. To determine if bacteria are still present in the water, 80 to 100 samples are continuously being sent from the Basti area to the municipal corporation for testing. There is a suspicion that the patients may also have cholera. The situation will become clear after the patients' culture reports arrive. The same treatment given for cholera is currently being given to the patients. The health department's report states that four patients died due to diarrhea.
