Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Pongal festival at the residence of Union Minister of State L. Murugan in New Delhi on Wednesday. He also performed cow worship (Gau Seva). Prime Minister Modi said that Pongal has now become a global festival and that Tamil culture is a shared heritage of all of India. PM Modi stated that Pongal teaches people that gratitude towards nature should not be limited to mere words, but should be made a part of our daily lives.

 

 

PM Modi said that the festival of Pongal inspires us to make gratitude towards nature a part of our lifestyle, not just something we express in words. When this earth gives us so much, it is our responsibility to cherish it. Keeping the soil healthy, conserving water, and using resources judiciously are most important for the next generation.

Pongal has become a global festival.

The Prime Minister said that today, Pongal has become a global festival. Last year, I had the opportunity to participate in several programs related to Tamil culture. This culture is not only a shared heritage of India but of the entire world. PM Modi said that in Tamil culture, the farmer is considered the cornerstone of life. He cited 'Thirukkural,' saying that it elaborates on the importance of agriculture and farmers. The Prime Minister said that Pongal inspires people to make respect for nature a part of their lives.

 

 

PM Modi said that almost all civilizations in the world celebrate some festival related to crops. In Tamil culture, the farmer is considered the foundation of life. Thirukkural elaborates on agriculture and farmers. Our farmers are strong partners in nation-building.

 

 

Earlier, PM Modi extended his greetings to citizens on Makar Sankranti and wished them happiness, prosperity, and good health. In his message, the Prime Minister wrote, "This auspicious festival of Sankranti is celebrated in different parts of the country according to local customs and traditions. I pray to Lord Surya for everyone's happiness, prosperity, and good health. With the blessings of Surya Dev during Uttarayan, all sins are destroyed."
