International Yoga Day, celebrated every year by the United Nations, is also being celebrated on 21 June this year.

The theme of the International Yoga Day event every year is Bindu, this time the United Nations has named it Yoga for Well Being. During the last two years of covid transition, it has been observed that yoga is keeping people strong not only physically but also mentally and psychologically so that they can cope better with covid related difficulties and depression.
The United Nations said in its statement, "There has been an increasing trend around the world to adopt yoga to stay healthy during the Covid epidemic and to fight social isolation and depression. Yoga can help people recover from Covid-19." It is playing an important role. It is reducing their fear and anxiety."
International Yoga Day begins
The proposal to celebrate International Yoga Day was first given by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the United Nations General Assembly on 27 September 2014. In his address, the Prime Minister had described Yoga as an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition.
This resolution was supported by 175 countries, because of this, the support of so many countries had never been received before on UN resolution, in view, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations announced to celebrate 21 June International Yoga Day every year.
When is the event held?
On the first International Yoga Day i.e. on June 21, 2015, at the Rajpath in Delhi, about 36,000 people along with the Prime Minister of India and eminent political representatives of other countries of the world started it by doing 21 asanas of yoga for 35 minutes. The theme of the event was Yoga for Harmony and Peace.
On June 21, 2016, the second International Yoga Day was formally organized in Chandigarh, wherein the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 150 people with disabilities along with 30,000 people participated. The theme of this year's event was Connecting Youth.
On June 21, 2017, Prime Minister Modi performed yoga in Lucknow with about 51,000 participants. This year's theme was Yoga for Health.
On June 21, 2018, PM Modi was seen doing yoga with 50,000 participants in Dehradun, the theme of this year was Yoga for Peace. Next year the Prime Minister reached Ranchi to celebrate Yoga. The theme of International Yoga Day on June 21, 2019, was Yoga with the Environment.
Whereas on June 21, 2020, its virtual tour was organized during the time of the Covid epidemic. This year the theme of the event was Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family.
