IPL 2025: Shreyas praised the bowlers for Punjab's victory, and Rajat held them responsible for RCB's defeat

Crediting the bowlers for the five-wicket win in the rain-affected 14-over match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer said that his bowlers adapted to the conditions brilliantly. After restricting RCB to 95 runs for nine wickets, Punjab achieved the target by losing five wickets.

Iyer said in the award ceremony after the match, 'We are getting experience of all kinds of conditions. In this match also we stuck to our strategy. We were going according to our plan. Marco (Janssen) was able to get a bounce. The rest of the bowlers supported him.'

 

He said, 'We did not know about this pitch, how it would behave. Our bowlers adapted themselves to the conditions.' Praising Nehal Vadhera, who played an unbeaten innings of 33 runs while chasing the target, he said, 'Nehal performed brilliantly today. It is good to have a batsman like him in the team.'

At the same time, RCB captain Rajat Patidar said, 'Initially the ball was coming intermittently and the ball was coming on the bat at two speeds on the wicket, but we could have done much better as a batting unit. Partnerships are important and we have lost wickets at quick intervals and this is a big lesson for us.

 

On ousting Padikkal, Rajat said, 'We had to make this change due to the circumstances. The wicket was not that bad. It was undercover for a long time. This helped their bowlers. Credit goes to them. Whatever the wicket, we have to bat well and score a winning score.'

 

Rajat said, 'The bowling unit is doing quite well, this is a big positive aspect. The batsmen have played with passion, it is pleasing. We can correct some of our mistakes in the batting unit.'

Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets here on Friday in a 14-over match of the rain-affected Indian Premier League based on a brilliant performance by the bowlers. Despite Tim David's brilliant half-century, RCB's team could score only 95 runs for nine wickets. Punjab Kings won by scoring 98 runs for the loss of five wickets in 12.1 overs. This is Punjab's fifth win in seven matches and the team reached the second position in the table with 10 points. RCB is in fourth place with eight points in seven matches.
