On Sunday an IPS office said that the FIR registered against him by UP police in an alleged rape case was a “return gift” from Mulayam Singh Yadav for making public an audio recording of the Samajwadi Party supremo allegedly threatening him over the phone.
Amitabh Thakur said at the press confrence with his wife Nutan when he addressing the press confrence that my only fault was that I made public the audio recording of the threat I had received from Mulayam, and also ‘dared’ to submit a complaint in this regard at a police station
On Saturday, Amitabh had submitted a complaint at Hazratganj police station against Mulayam for allegedly threatening him.
“On January 17, at about 7 pm, my wife Nutan received a call from a newspaper to get our side of the story on a rape complaint submitted with the state women’s commission,” he said. Thakur added that he had presented several instances and documents “questioning the complaint and the FIR”.
On July 9, a day before Mulayam’s alleged threat, an FIR was registered against Mining Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, state women’s commission chairperson Zarina Usmani and six others on the complaint of Nutan Thakur, who had accused them of “framing” her and her husband in “fake” cases.
Thakur said he now feared an attack on his life, and has sought security cover for himself and his family, claiming that he could “be killed or sent to jail.” “I will also try to meet the Union Home Secretary and apprise him of the case,” he said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said without naming anyone, “Some elements are trying to malign the government’s image, but the people have never paid any heed to them. These narrow-minded people are not even hesitating to level baseless allegations against Samajwadi Party’s national president Mulayam Singh Yadav. In his six decades in public life, even his political opponents have not raised a finger over his behaviour and some officials are now interested in playing politics instead of carrying out their duties. Such officials should leave their jobs and formally take up politics, because indulging in politics while being a part of the administration is unacceptable.”
