Filmmaker Boney Kapoor\'s daughter Janhvi Kapoor inherited acting from her mother Sridevi. Film by film, Janhvi, who is setting her feet in the Hindi cinema world, is absolutely against the distinction between daughter and son. She also selecting the characters of her films in such a way that only heroes are seen in common stories. Janhvi\'s next film \'Good Luck Jerry\' is releasing directly on OTT next week. Janhvi\'s character in this remake of a South Indian film is something that is rarely seen in Hindi films. A special meeting of \'Amar Ujala\' with Janhvi Kapoor.
After \'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl\', now \'Good Luck Jerry\' also on OTT? Now it should have been released in theaters, no?
Right now we are not able to test which film is playing in the theater and which is not. Accordingly, OTT is a better medium. The number of viewers on this is also very high. I can say with complete certainty that it is a good film and a good film whether it is released on the big screen or OTT, audiences love it.
The trailer of the film \'Good Luck Jerry\' tells that your character is running the whole family. Kiara Advani also recently said that daughters should be financially strong. What do you think?
I completely agree with Kiara that if daughters are financially independent, they can settle without getting married. The strength that women have shown over the centuries and what they are doing should be respected in society. They should never be seen from such a point of view that without men nothing will happen to them. A daughter can not only take care of herself by standing on her own feet but can also take care of the whole house and family when the occasion comes. In the film \'Good Luck Jerry\' too, Jerry takes all the responsibility of the house.
Does your father Boney Kapoor permit you to do this at home?
There is only one thing I learned from my father and that is honesty. He is honest and teaches us the same. Every father should be so honest towards his children. I do not accept the difference between daughters and sons. It is good that now daughters are also getting the freedom to adopt any kind of career. With the support of family members, any daughter can touch the sky.
Hindi remake films of South Indian films are not doing much these days. Do you have another film after \'Goodluck Jerry\', \'Mili\' is also a remake?
Yes, a lot of remakes of South Indian films are indeed being made these days. \'Good Luck Jerry\' is a remake of a Tamil film but I don\'t think any dubbed version of these films has been released in Hindi yet. People have not seen these films, so we are making a remake of these films with some courage. Hindi audiences will love these new types of stories.
Audiences have high expectations from Star Kids, so when any of your films are released, do you feel any kind of tension or pressure?
I believe that the pressure to do good work is on everyone, whether you are star kids or not. Well, I don\'t think I am under any pressure to be Sridevi\'s daughter. Being his daughter, people have expectations from me, so I am very grateful to everyone for that thing. Their expectations inspire me to do better work.
What was the experience of shooting director Nitesh Tiwari\'s film \'Bawal\' in Kanpur?
I liked the tone of talking to the people of Kanpur. Even when the people there talk in anger, it seems that they are reciting poetry. From there we came to Lucknow, where I love kebabs. Had also gone to visit Bhool Bhulaiya and Imambara and had a lot of fun there. The taste of talking to the people of Lucknow is very good.
