Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code i.e. UCC. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed happiness over this. He said that today is a very auspicious sign.
He said that 'Article 44 of the Constitution allows that efforts be made to implement the Uniform Civil Code in all states and union territories. But this was stuck for a long time.'
Uttarakhand government praised
Dhankhar said that politics has entered our minds in such a way that we do not even blink an eye while sacrificing nationalism for it. He said that this work was stuck due to this reason.
"We have many challenges. One challenge is that lakhs of illegal immigrants are living on our land. Such people will never connect with our nationalism. Illegal immigrants are a threat to democracy. I expect the government to think seriously about this. - Jagdeep Dhankhar"
The Vice President said that 'Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has made the Uniform Civil Code a reality. I appreciate the foresight of the government. It is only a matter of time when the whole country will also adopt a similar law.'
Dhankhar is furious at critics
Vice President Dhankhar said that I do not understand how anyone can oppose the Uniform Civil Code. Such people should read about the debates of the Constituent Assembly. Read how many times the Supreme Court has asked to do so.
He said that 'some people are criticizing the Uniform Civil Code due to ignorance. How can we criticize something which is the mandate of the Indian Constitution, an order given by our Constitution makers and which will bring gender equality?'
BJP had promised
The Uniform Civil Code was promised by the Bharatiya Janata Party in its 2024 election manifesto. Uttarakhand was the first to take the initiative in this direction. In December, Home Minister Amit Shah had said in the Rajya Sabha that UCC would be brought in every BJP-ruled state.
Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have also taken steps towards the Uniform Civil Code. However, Muslim leaders believe that UCC will challenge Islamic laws related to divorce, inheritance, and marriage.
