Nikki Bhati Murder: Twist in Noida dowry murder case, Nikki Bhati's sister-in-law reveals the reality of 'beggar' family

The Noida dowry death case has now taken a dramatic turn. New allegations have been levelled against the victim's family. Nikki Bhati's sister-in-law has alleged that she, too, was tortured for dowry by her in-laws.

Rohit and Meenakshi got married in 2016. Meenakshi, a resident of Palla village, has claimed that her family had given a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car in dowry, but her in-laws sold it, calling it "inauspicious".

Meenakshi's family claims that Nikki Bhati's family then demanded a new model of the Scorpio SUV and cash. Meenakshi alleged that when she refused, her in-laws sent her back to her parents' house.

The matter reached the village panchayat

The matter was taken to the village panchayat, where it was reportedly advised that either the Rs 35 lakh (the amount spent on their wedding) be returned to Meenakshi's family so that she can remarry or her husband's family accept her as their daughter-in-law.

The dispute, however, remained unresolved. Meenakshi alleged that Nikki's father, Bhikhari Singh Payala, and other family members never accepted her.

Nikki Bhati's arrested father-in-law, Satyavir Singh, had apparently assured Meenakshi's father that he would get the money back from Bhikhari Singh Payala using his personal connections. He is also said to have intervened in Meenakshi's case several times and urged Payala to settle the matter.
