Kannur University: Case of irregularity in appointment in Kannur University, Governor seeks clarification

Kerala Government and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan once again face to face. The Governor has initiated action against the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University in connection with the complaint of appointment of the wife of Private Secretary to the Chief Minister KK Ragesh. According to Raj Bhavan sources, the Kannur University VC has been given 10 days to clarify.

 

What's the matter?

 

Priya Varghese, wife of KK Ragesh, Private Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala, was appointed as Associate Professor in the Malayalam Department of the University. Reportedly, irregularities in this appointment have come to the fore. It has been taken seriously. According to the information, the Governor believes that serious irregularities have been committed in this appointment.

 

 

10 days

 

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had sought a report from Kannur University Vice-Chancellor Gopinath Raveendran on the controversial appointment. The vice-chancellor was given 10 days to clarify the matter. If the explanation of the Vice-Chancellor is not found satisfactory, the Governor can take strict action against the officer.

 

How was the matter revealed?

 

The matter was disclosed by a whistleblower named Save University Campaign Committee. The group had approached the governor with the petition. He said the interview board at Kannur University had sidelined three senior professors who had better qualifications and experience than Priya Varghese, who had only three years of teaching experience.
