Cyclone Biparjoy, which arose from the south-central Arabian Sea on June 6, is moving towards Rajasthan on June 16 passing through 940 villages in Gujarat. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather of many states across the country has been affected due to Biparjoy. It will also rain in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. Weather forecasting agency Skymet has told that due to landfall, there will be heavy rains in these states in the next four days.

It is worth mentioning that for the last several days, many states including Delhi, UP, and Bihar are experiencing severe heat. Due to Biparjoy, there will be a respite from the heat in these states in the coming days. After making landfall near Jakhau Port in Gujarat's Kutch district, Biparjoy is now moving towards land. Under its influence, strong winds and heavy rains have badly affected Kutch and Saurashtra.

Due to the strong wind, trees, hoardings, and electric poles were uprooted in many places and tin sheds were blown away from the houses. Many areas were plunged into darkness. The situation became alarming due to high waves. In some places, the waves rose to seven and a half meters. Biparjoy cyclone affected 940 villages in Gujarat and killed two people.

As a precaution, more than one lakh people have already been shifted to safer places from the coastal areas. Ports have been closed. The operation of flights and trains has been stopped. Western Railway has canceled around 99 trains.

Rainfall accompanied by strong wind started a few hours before the outer part of the cyclone hit the coastal parts. The wind speed at different places was around 115 to 140 kmph when the cyclone hit the coast near Jakhau.

Biparjoy is the second strongest cyclone in the last three years. Earlier in May 2021, 'Tocte' created havoc. Biparjaya has also become the longest-lived cyclone in the Arabian Sea.

The Meteorological Department estimates that the speed of the cyclonic wind will start slowing down around eight o'clock on Friday morning. However, the rains will continue even then. Gradually the position of the cyclone will move towards the west.

Partial devastation can also be seen in the border districts of Rajasthan due to rain accompanied by strong winds. On June 17 also, due to the further advance of the cyclone, the districts of Rajasthan may receive rainfall up to 20 cm.

The effect will be seen in these cities including Delhi from June 18

After Rajasthan, the cyclone will move towards Delhi-Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh. From June 18, for the next one or two days, a wind speed of 30 to 40 km per hour is likely to blow in the surrounding areas of Delhi. It may also rain here and there. After that, there will be a fall in the temperature of the entire North India. There is currently a heat wave condition in Bihar-Jharkhand, but due to the impact of the cyclone, there will be a drop in the temperature there after June 18.
