Karunaratne Hospitalised: Sri Lankan all-rounder breaks four teeth while taking a catch, admitted to hospital for surgery

Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne suffered a serious injury in the Lanka Premier League match played on Wednesday. In an attempt to catch the catch, Karunaratne got hurt on his face and had to be admitted to the hospital. However, Karunaratne's condition is fine and he is not in any danger. Karunaratne is playing for Kandy Falcons and he got hurt during the fourth match of the league.

 

Karunaratne was injured while trying to take a catch off Carlos Brathwaite. Due to not being able to guess the ball correctly, the ball fell on Karunaratne's face and his four teeth were broken. Karunaratne had caught the catch, but immediately blood started coming out of his mouth. He was immediately admitted to the hospital for surgery. The team director has issued his statement saying that Karunaratne's condition is fine and he is out of danger.

 

Karunaratne's international career has been like this

 

Karunaratne, 26, made his international debut in 2019. He has so far played one Test, 18 ODIs, and 38 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka. Apart from scoring 22 runs in the Test, he has also taken a wicket. In ODIs, he has scored 376 runs and has taken 16 wickets. He has scored a half-century in ODIs. In T20, 257 runs have come out of Karunaratne's bat, of which 31 is his highest score. In bowling, he has taken 21 wickets. Taking two wickets for 22 runs has been his best performance.
