If Rahul is not selected for the playing-11, then Shubman Gill can be opened in his place, because only Gill has experience of opening in Tests in India's current squad.

He said that instead of Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, or Shubman Gill should be given opportunities.

Ashwin may be the new vice-captain, but in overseas Tests, the Indian team includes only one spinner in the playing-11. Then only one of Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja gets a chance.

Shreyas Iyer: The 28-year-old Shreyas has cemented his place in India's ODI and Test teams over the years. With the art of batting responsibly and winning the team in difficult situations, he can become the new vice-captain of the team. Why not Jadeja and Bumrah?
