New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was Tuesday slapped by a man while he was campaigning here, making it the fifth attack on him in recent days.
The attack, which took place in Sultanpuri, left Kejriwal with a swollen left eye. The attacker, an autorickshaw driver, was roughed up by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters.
The attacker has been identified as 38-year-old Lali, a resident of Aman Vihar.
Barely four days ago on April 4, Kejriwal was punched in south Delhi by a teenager who pretended to garland him.
On Tuesday, Kejriwal was on a roadshow, campaigning for party candidate from north west Delhi, Rakhi Birla, when he was assaulted.
The assailant garlanded Kejriwal and then slapped him.
Delhi goes to polls April 10.
A party member told IANS that there is a growing feeling among party members and volunteers that Kejriwal should take security.
Soon after the attack, Kejriwal tweeted: "I am just thinking - why am I being repeatedly attacked? Who r the masterminds? What do they want? What do they achieve?"
He questioned whether violence was an answer to the country's problems.
"Let them tell me (the) place and time. I will come there. Let them beat me as much as they want. But will that solve the problems?" he tweeted.
In less than a month, Kejriwal has been targeted five times, including in Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and more recently while campaigning in south Delhi's Dakshinpuri area here.
