lack of face, collapse in J&K; How the exit of Ghulam Nabi Azad will hurt Congress

The exit of Ghulam Nabi Azad from Congress appears to be just another episode of the series of leaders leaving the party for the past several years. But looking at Ghulam Nabi Azad's career of 5 decades with Congress, it is known that this is probably the biggest loss of Congress to date. Many leaders including Captain Amarinder Singh, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasad, and Sushmita Dev have left Congress and this has weakened the party in the states. But Ghulam Nabi Azad can cause the biggest hurt during this crisis. On the one hand, Congress will suffer a big loss in Jammu and Kashmir, while it will also lack a big face in secular politics across the country.

What will happen to Congress in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir

The Congress, running under the shadow of the Abdullah family in Jammu and Kashmir, had only Ghulam Nabi Azad in the name of the face. Now after his departure, the party will have to face a big crisis here. The situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has changed rapidly. On the one hand, the BJP has become very strong in Jammu, while in Kashmir, the PDP and the National Conference have dominated. In such a situation, it was Ghulam Nabi Azad, who had little credibility in Jammu and Kashmir. He was respected as a secular leader from Jammu to Kashmir. He is the only leader who has a hold in both divisions. In such a situation, forming a separate party and fighting on 90 seats will be like cutting the vote of Congress itself. This is sure to cause deep pain to the party. This is visible from now on when around 70 leaders have left Congress.

Sign of split between India Jodo Yatra

Congress leaders are raising questions regarding the timing of the exit of Ghulam Nabi Azad. On this, Ghulam Nabi Azad says that the people of Congress should talk about time to improve the party, not timing. Although it is also true that the exit of Ghulam Nabi Azad from the party at this time is a blow to the Congress. The reason for this is that on one hand Congress is preparing to take out the India Jodo Yatra and on the other hand the election of the President is also to be held. Ghulam Nabi Azad's exit and continuous attacks on such an occasion are going to create problems for Congress in the matter of perception.

Lack of Muslim leader with secular image, lack of face too

After the death of Ahmed Patel during the Corona period, Ghulam Nabi Azad was the only leader in the top leadership of the Congress, who came from the Muslim community. Now after his exit, only Salman Khurshid is left with the Congress, but he does not have much influence even in his home state of UP. In such a situation, the lack of Ghulam Nabi Azad, a Muslim leader with a secular image, will be missed by Congress. Ghulam Nabi Azad was a leader who was recognized at the national level. Apart from this, he has been equally popular in the Hindu community and has always stayed away from controversies.
