The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a fresh petition filed regarding amendments to the electoral bond scheme. In this amendment, the government allowed the sale of electoral bonds for an additional 15 days during the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Senior advocate Anoop George Chaudhary, referring to the petition before the apex court, said that the government notification is completely illegal. A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala said it would list the matter for hearing. The petition, filed by Congress leader Jaya Thakur, has challenged the electoral bond scheme, which allows anonymous funding of political parties.
